Surgery Update!

My Father in Law Danny had surgery today...he needed to be at the hospital at 6:30am - which meant they were up at 5:00am to leave at 5:30am to drive to St. Cloud.

The surgery was scheduled for 8am - and he did not go in on time. He got in 9:55am and he got out at 11:45am. The doctor said it went well....he did have his c7 fused together and one bone/disk removed. He also had a ruptured disk in that area, which is what caused all that pain....the ruptured disk created the bone spurs.

When the girls and I got to the hospital at 2pm, he was sleeping. He is having a difficult time with his eye, saying he felt like there was gravel in it. So, the doctor came and looked at it. They did wash it a little and are giving him drops and such. Seeing what happens there.

Mark and Bernadette were there all day....and after the girls and I left the hospital we went to the movies. We saw MONSTERS AND ALIENS. It was really a good movie.

Danny is supposed to be coming home tomorrow. It looks like Mark and I will be staying later due to the Blizzard Warning that is in IA. YUCK...More snow.

Also, be praying for Danny's blood pressure - it is really high...and the diabetes is out of whack as well. They are trying to get them back in line. One last thing, in order for the bones to heal, Danny has to quit smoking. He has smoked most of his life. This is something both Dan and Bernadette are doing together. Which phyically makes this all that more hard.
